Things to consider when choosing the entertainment for your event
The entertainment that you choose for your event could make or break the day so it’s important to think carefully about the type of atmosphere that you want to create and what your guests will enjoy the most. It’s easy to find musicians or DJs for an event, but what if you’re looking for something a little more unusual, surprising or memorable for the big day? Before you go out and spend lots of money on booking or hiring the entertainment for your event there are a few factors that you should first consider in order to ensure your event’s success.
Tone of event – The most important thing to remind yourself of before you get carried away with booking the entertainment is the type of event that you’re hosting. Make sure that the entertainment that you have in mind is suitable. Although a foam cannon may have been a lot of fun back in your college days, it probably isn’t going to be suitable for your corporate event, however it will definitely be a big hit at a teenager’s party.
Guests – Think about the types of people that are going to be attending your event. Are they all going to be within a certain age range? Is there going to be a mix of different types of people with different interests, or do most the people you’re inviting have anything in common? Is your event for adults, kids or teenagers? Think about the type of people that you are expecting to attend your event and choose entertainment that you can realistically see them enjoying. For example if you’re targeting older children or teenagers don’t hire a comedian where the jokes may go straight over their head.
Location – Think about the location of your event, are you planning on hosting it indoors or outdoors? Is there a lake or swimming pool available at your location? Choose entertainment that makes the most of your location. If you’re planning on hosting your event outside during the summer then why not hire an inflatable movie screen for showing videos or a movie. If your location has access to water then why not hire inflatable water toys like a water trampoline or a water bounce, these are particularly popular for kids’ parties.
Budget – During the initial stages of planning your event you should set a budget for your event’s entertainment. Make sure that you stay within the budget that you have set when selecting the entertainment for your event and don’t go overboard.
Originality – Although it’s important to make sure that the entertainment that you’re choosing is appropriate for your event don’t play it so safe that your entertainment is boring or unoriginal. Remember that you want your event to standout in your guests’ memories. Dare to choose entertainment that is a little different and that your guests won’t be expecting.
